Leeds High School Library Media Center Mission Statement

The mission of the library media program at Leeds High School is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information.  This mission is accomplished:

  • by providing intellectual and physical access to materials in all formats
  • by providing instruction to foster competence and stimulate interest in reading, viewing and using information and ideas
  • by working with other educators to design learning strategies to meet the needs of individual students

Library Hours

The Leeds High School Media Center is open from 7:45 to 3:15 on Monday through Friday during the school year. 

Library Rules

  1. Students may not use the copier unless they are teacher aides.
  2. Copies made on the copier will cost 5 cents per page.  Copies printed from the computer will cost 5 cents for black and white and 10 cents for color.
  3. Students must not take materials from the media center without checking them out.  Those who take materials from the media center without permission will be disciplined according to administrative policy.
  4. Students should not be disruptive in the media center.  Those who are will be disciplined according to the administrative policy.
  5. Students must have a pass from a teacher to enter the media center during class time.
  6. Food and drinks are not allowed in the media center.

 

Circulation Policies

  1. Books may be checked out by a student for two weeks.  Holidays are excluded.  Students may check out a maximum of three books.  Books may be renewed only two times.  Teachers may check out print materials for an indefinite period unless requested by another teacher.
  2. Reference books and magazines may be checked out overnight.  They must be checked out at the end of the school day and returned at the start of the following day.
  3. Audiovisual materials may be checked out by students at the request of the teacher.
  4. Audiovisual equipment must be checked out only by teachers.  They must be checked  out daily and turned in at the end of the day.

Overdue Notification

  1. The fine is 5 cents per day and may be accrued up to a maximum of $3.00.
  2. Holidays and weekends will not be counted in the amount of the fine.
  3. Overdue and fine notices are given periodically to those with overdue books and outstanding fines.
